ACC Conference Report 1/13

The Atlantic Coast Conference is still struggling to gain attention in the top 25 at the moment with Duke still being the only ACC team ranked in the top 25 at #8. There are a couple teams starting to get noticed in the voting, but for now the Blue Devils stand alone in the top 25 rankings for the ACC. Duke played a road game at Wake Forest last night and got the road win 76-64 to move to 13-2 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. The Devils were without Coach K, but John Scheyer led Duke to the win with heavy contributions from the freshman phenom Paolo Banchero scoring 24 and fellow freshman AJ Griffin scoring 22 in his first start of the season.
Conference Best
The Miami Hurricanes sit atop the ACC with a 5-1 conference record (13-4 overall) after just knocking off the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor last Saturday. The Hurricanes only loss was a road loss this past Tuesday at Florida State with the Seminoles Ray’Quan Evan knocking down two free throws with .8 seconds left to secure the win for FSU.
Trending up: Teams moving up the seed list
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the ACC and are currently on a 6 game winning streak and are coming off of wins over North Carolina, Georgia Tech and beat Clemson last night at a score of 72-56.
Bubble: Teams either in or out of the bracket
Wake Forest (13-4; 3-3 ACC) and Virginia Tech (8-7; 0-4) appear to be on the Bubble in the “Last 4 in” line, while Louisville (10-6; 4-2) and Clemson (10-6; 2-3) are currently on that line that nobody wants to be on- the “First 4 out” line. All four teams were in action last night and all four lost their games not helping their bubble status.
Trending Down: Teams that are dropping down the seed list or out of our bracket
The Boston College Eagles were sitting at 6-3 on the season but are currently in the middle of a 5 game losing streak and have dropped back to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the ACC after losing to Georgia Tech last night.
