MINNESOTA – The Gophers had not won a true road game until beating Ohio St in Columbus 62-59. Marcus Carr of Minnesota hit the game winning 3 pointer with under 3 seconds left. Coach Pitino elected to not use a timeout at 13 seconds after a stop by the Gophers. Minnesota is now 11-8 and has good quad wins. They will likely move into the bracket despite the number of losses. Ohio St is is a free fall. We have them around the 8/9 seed line
INDIANA- The Hoosiers were hanging around the bracket somewhere according to most bracketologists. Winning at home over Michigan St will, at least for now, put the Hoosiers is a safer spot. The Hoosiers now 15-4 with 3 quad 1 & 2 quad 2 wins are looking to end a three year NCAA tournament drought.
OREGON– The Ducks get a solid win over USC 79-70. Beating a tournament team is always good for the resume. Oregon is a top 4 seed at this time. Not a devastating loss for the Trojans as they have some room for error. Making sure that they bounce back will be really important
HOUSTON– The Cougars continue to pile up the wins. A 63-59 win over UConn adds to the resume. Houston has been on the bubble but they are slowing moving up the overall seed list.
COLORADO Defeats Washington St. 70-56 to maintain their spot in the top of our bracket. The Buffaloes are working on a possible 4 seed if they can string together some wins. It’s a good holding serve game because Washington St had won a few games in a row and were dangerous.
ST. MARYS Wins at home over San Francisco 58-48. Winning conference games is a must for the Gaels as they occupy a spot on our 11 seed line.
WASHINGTON Losing to Utah on the road 67-66. Losing on the road is not bad but losing a close game with the chance to add to the resume is tough. Season is over half over and the opportunities are dwindling fast. The Huskies have some work to do to get even close to the bracket
OREGON ST- The Beavers lost to UCLA 62-58. They were once briefly in the bracket but now are fading fast. This loss really hurts their chances at a bid.
MID MAJOR GAMES
MURRAY ST– The Racers beat Belmont 85-75 to remain undefeated in the Ohio Valley conference. Murray St is now 14-5 and one of those teams that will be fun to watch should they make the tournament.
LIBERTY Loses on the road to North Florida 71-70. Liberty is a mid major with a solid NET ranking that puts them in position for an at-large bid if they do not win their conference tournament. A few more losses like these will eliminate that discussion
