ILLINOIS defeated Purdue at Mackey Arena 79-62. A road win in the BIG 10 is a huge win. Gaining another quad 1 win is also huge. Illinois has put themselves in good position to make the tourney this year. Purdue now 10-9 is in need of a winning streak to get off the bubble and earn a bid.
LSU- Defeats Florida 84-82 to continue to move up the seed list. While this victory is only a quad 2 win, it adds to a solid resume to date. LSU is in the 6-9 range on our seed list
TCU– Defeats Texas Tech at home 65-54 to earn a nice win. The Horned Frogs find themselves down the bubble list but now in serious consideration going forward. They still have a lot of work to do to make the tourney
WICHITA ST– Won a conference road game at South Florida 56-47. The win stops a brief losing streak for the Shockers and prevents a loss on the resume. The Shockers are playing for seeding for the most part. Keep holding serve and they are in.
KENTUCKY Defeats a good Georgia team at home 88-79. Kentucky is trying to move up off the 6 seed line. We believe they have a good chance of getting a top 4 protected seed by the end of the year.
WISCONSIN Holding serve against one of the two weakest teams in the conference is a must. The Badgers defeat a pesky Nebraska team 82-68 and now go on the road vs a wounded Purdue team.
MARQUETTE– The Golden Eagles beat St. John’s 82-68 to hold serve. They add a win to the record and find themselves in our 7-9 range.
KANSAS & KANSAS ST-These teams found themselves in the middle of a nasty melee at the end of the game. Look for suspensions to be levied out and some may be for quite awhile. The players involved must be held accountable and taught appropriate lessons to overcome their actions
TEXAS TECH– The Red Raiders resume is very light on wins. The have a solid NET ranking but that will only carry them so far. Losing a game to TCU on the road is not devastating but the opportunities are starting to decrease for this team
MID MAJOR GAMES
AKRON– Continues to play well in the MAC. They win 81-60 over Miami Ohio. Akron is a potential bid thief if they do not win the MAC conference tournament. They probably would need to win out to be considered, but are a team to watch
