Game Results Jan 31-Feb 2
RHODE ISLAND The Rams have won eight in a row and defeated fellow bubble and conference opponent VCU 87-75 on Friday. This is a season sweep for the Rams, who now have a NET rating of 40. Rhode Island is in our field and moving up rapidly.
XAVIER– The Musketeers needed a signature win. They go on the road and defeat Seton Hall 74-62 to get that win. Now they must win some more. Xavier is either just in our just out of our next bracket.
CREIGHTON– The Blue Jays won on the road over Villanova. A huge win for sure and great for the resume. Creighton is currently on our 5/6 seed range but putting pressure on teams above them
WISCONSIN– The Badgers saw their 2nd leading scorer transfer and another player get suspended and where able to hold of Michigan St at home 64-63. This win keeps the Badgers from having too many losses to be considered in the tournament. They currently sit at 13-9 and could be a single digit seed.
STANFORD– The Cardinal resume had been void of a signature win. At least, until this weekend when they beat Oregon 70-60. They now should be more concerned with seeding than making the tournament. Currently in the 7-9 range.
AUBURN– The Tigers were another team whose metrics were better than their resume. Defeating Kentucky 75-66 helps Auburn maintain their top 5 seed resume at this time.
BYU– The Cougars helped themselves by beating St. Mary’s 81-79. They have a solid NET of 26 and need a couple more wins to be sure. BYU is on our 7 line mainly because of bracket rules and having to play on Thursday/Saturday. Look for BYU to either be a 7 or 10 seed but not an 8 or 9 with the currently 1 seed line as it is.
GEORGETOWN– The Hoyas are positioned right on the cut line in most brackets. Getting a road win vs St. John’s a fellow bubble team was vital. They still have a lot to overcome to make the final cut.
MICHIGAN– Defeats Rutgers 69-63 at home. The Wolverines were on a slide and this win kind of stabilizes them for now.
OHIO ST– A nice win over Indiana 68-59 helps put the Buckeyes on the right path once again. Their NET of 20 has them in a good place, now they just need a few more wins to improve their seeding.
MEMPHIS– The Tigers are dangerously close to the cut line and winning at home over UCONN 70-63 buys them some time.
OKLAHOMA– The Sooners defeat Oklahoma St 82-69 to stay the course. Oklahoma is a 8-10 seed team.
GONZAGA The Bulldogs win on the road at San Francisco with a comeback win 83-79. Gonzaga will be trying to hold serve to keep their number 1 seed.
KANSAS Defeats Texas Tech 78-75 to hold serve on the 1 seed line as well. Kansas has a real strong resume and can probably withstand a loss or two, but every win helps.
PENN ST The Nittany Lions hold off Nebraska 76-64 to avoid adding a bad loss to the resume.
PURDUE– The Boilers hit a big 3 late in the game to win at Northwestern. Purdue is in dangerous territory with a large number of losses. A win here, keeps them alive.
SAN DIEGO STATE– The Aztecs are our third #1 seed to hold serve with a tough 80-68 win over Utah St. San Diego St trailed for most of the first half and needed a furious 2nd half to pull out the win.
BUTLER The Bulldogs minus a starter lost at home to Providence 65-61. The Bulldogs seed has fallen steadily in the last few week.
HOUSTON A close loss on the road hardly moves the needle for Houston. Still was a lost opportunity to move up the seed line. Losing 64-62 to Cincinnati. The Bearcats stay alive with this quad 2 win.
WICHITA ST– The Shockers with zero quad 1 wins lose on a contested three pointer by Tulsa 54-51. Wichita St is safely in but close to the cut line. Tulsa is in our bracket as the conference leader at this momemnt
MID MAJOR GAMES
LITTLE ROCK– Defeats Appalachian St 93-86 to stay on top of their conference rankings. A potential round one upset team here.
YALE– wins 86-71 over Cornell. A 12 seed likely in the bracket, keep watching this team
LIBERTY– wins over FGCU 61-46 to improve to 21-3. They have an outside shot at an at large if they need it.
