Game Results Feb 14-16
GEORGETOWN The Hoyas move into our bracket with a huge win on the road at Butler 73-66. Georgetown still has work to do but have some quality numbers on their resume. They could be anywhere from a 9-11 seed.
BAYLOR– The Bears keep winning. Winning against a top 10 NET team is even better. Baylor defeating West Virginia 70-59 to stay firmly on the 1 seed line.
SOUTH CAROLINA The Gamecocks are not in out bracket. Beating Tennessee 63-61 does keep them in consideration. They must win quite a few more to move in to offset some bad losses.
MARYLAND– The Terps win on the road in the BIG 10 with another late rally. This time a 14-0 run over the last three minutes to beat Michigan St 67-60. The Terps are on our 2 seed line.
VIRGINIA– The Cavaliers avoided a bad loss with a 64-62 win at North Carolina. Virginia is in but clearly on the bubble at the 10/11 seed line.
ARIZONA ST– The Sun Devils are making a late push to get in the field. A win over California on the road is not a great win but it keeps the trend going in the right direction.
IOWA The Hawkeyes win at Minnesota 58-55. A huge win for seed purposes and especially when they are without CJ Frederick their point guard. Iowa looks to be a 6/7 in our next bracket.
ARIZONA– The Wildcats continue a season with a weird resume. A high NET ranking without much else. So winning at Stanford is a step in the right direction. The #8 NET team finds itself a 5-7 team at best.
FLORIDA ST– Holds on to defeat Syracuse 80-77. The Seminoles are a 3 seed for us and a possible 2 seed.
KANSAS– The Jayhawks defeat Oklahoma 87-70 to stay firm on the 1 seed line.
OHIO ST– The Buckeyes win at home vs Purdue 68-52 which helps them stay around the 6 seed line. Purdue falls out of the bracket with the loss
KENTUCKY The Wildcats defeat Ole Miss 67-62 and make a push to get a top 4 seed.
RUTGERS The Scarlet Knights add a quality win over Illinois to their resume. They do need a few road wins to get a better seed.
BYU The Cougars defeat San Diego 72-71 on the road. BYU is safely in but must avoid bad losses to stay a 7 seed or better
USC– The Trojans defeat Washington St 70-51 to hold firm in the 8/10 range.
MICHIGAN– The Wolverines defeat IU 89-65 to maintain their spot in our bracket. IU falling desperately close to the cut line
TEXAS TECH Lost to Oklahoma St on the road 73-70. The Red Raiders have a solid NET but not a lot of quality wins.
ARKANSAS Losing on a buzzer beater to fellow bubble team Mississippi St. This loss is likely to drop the Razorbacks out of our bracket. Mississippi St is getting a good look from us for the next bracket.
LSU– The Tigers lose to Alabama 78-77. LSU losing a seed line possibly with the loss. The Crimson Tide stay alive with this win.
VCU– Loses to fellow bubble team Richmond 77-59. The Rams are really struggling at this time. They likely need a conference tourney win to get into the field this year.
LOUISVILLE– The Cardinals have lost two in a row after losing at Clemson 77-62. Their numbers still suggest a 2 seed but they must fix their issues quickly or fall a few seed lines
HOUSTON A 73-72 loss to a good SMU is a bad beat simply because it was a close game. The Cougars want to be on the 7 line and not the 8/9 line. To do so they need to win games like this
AUBURN– The Tigers loss to Missouri does not hurt them much but it does prevent them from moving up.
SETON HALL – The Pirates have lost a couple game s in a row and lost at Providence 74-71. These losses hurt their chances to move to the 2 seed line.
NC STATE– One of our last four teams in the field lose on the road to Boston College 71-68. A quad 3 loss at this time of the year is not good.
MID MAJOR GAMES
EAST TENNESSEE ST– Keeps on winning. Now 23-4. A serious at-large team if needed
NORTHERN IOWA– NET of 40 after a tough loss to Loyola Chicago. Their at large possibilities remain, but they must win out probably and make the Missouri Valley tourney finals in our opinion.
FURMAN– The Palladins keep on winning. They are 22-5 after beating Western Carolina on the road. The three teams in the Southern Conference will make bracketologits job interesting for the next month.
