Purdue has a defense that is suffocating for opponents
Jaden Ivey is a special player
Purdue is a likely 1 or 2 seed for the tournament. Unless something crazy happens the Boilers are in a great position.
Indiana
Indiana has a defense that will travel. It is outstanding and keeps Indiana in ball games
The Hoosiers are searching for offensive consistency. They struggle with turnovers & shot selection
Indiana has the metrics to be included in most brackets, they dont have quad 1 or 2 wins.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame struggled offensively
Blake Wesley is a player to watch for the Irish
Notre Dame will have a difficult time making the tournament this season. The ACC doesn’t provide a lot of quality wins this season
Butler
Butler was outmatched against Purdue
The Bulldogs need to get their complete roster healthy
Butler will have an uphill battle to make the tourney
Game Notes
Purdue found its rhythm again and played a solid game
Coach Painter- Purdue, “What kind of player are you when shots aren’t going in”
Coach Brey- Notre Dame was concerned with Indiana’s ability to shoot. He didnt fully commit to double teaming Trayce Jackson-Davis. That is good news going forward for the Hoosiers
Shot selection- Indiana’s point guards were 4-12 from 3 and took 19 shots total. The two wing shooters in Miller Kopp and Parker Stewart were 4-7 from 3 and only took 11 shots total. Something to watch going forward
The Crossroads Classic comes to a close. Purdue’s Matt Painter was not pleased, “I am just befuddled why it’s going away.”
