Two weeks into the new season and conference play is just around the corner. This year conference standings may have some impact on selection of teams as there is no common set of non- conference games scheduled. That being said, a key component will be quality wins and non-conference quality wins may be what separates teams come selection Sunday. We take a look at the major conferences and how they have performed so far this season in our three thoughts segment.

BIG TEN

Michigan St has best win – victory over Duke

Indiana gets two power 5 wins at Maui Invitational

Purdue has lost two power 5 games.

BIG 12

Baylor at top with win over Illinois

Kansas is 5-1 with big wins after Gonzaga loss

Oklahoma St is team to watch with win @ Marquette

ACC

UNC, Duke, Virginia all take early losses

Virginia Tech moves into our watch list with win over Villanova

Georgia Tech has two tough losses but beats Kentucky- keep eye on them

BIG EAST

Xavier is 6-0 with win over Cincinnati

Villanova suffers early set back but defeats Texas

Marquette is team to watch- beat Wisconsin

SEC

Kentucky is 1-3 out of the gate.

Arkansas is 4-0 and moving up

Missouri with wins over Oregon & Wichita St- on our radar

PAC 12

Top teams all take losses early

Arizona St 3-1

UCLA 3-1

Houston off to a great 4-0 start. Possible top 4 seed

SMU 4-0 is a team to watch

Memphis needs some big wins soon

Richmond is 3-0 and defeated Kentucky

Mid Major

Watch the SoCon: Furman, Mercer and Chattanooga

Gonzaga— not mid major really- dominate

BYU, San Francisco, St Mary’s- some good wins but some losses
